He was born in Abbeville in 1967 and at the age of ten he started playing the tuba. The following years he was educated in Amiens, until he decided to move to Paris in 1988.

His talent was honoured with the first prize of the regional conservatory, that he at first attended.

Afterwards he was admitted to the National Conservatory in Paris, where he improved his knowledge until 1994.

Like the other members of the Miraphone Tuba Quartett, Olivier Galmant received the conservatory's first prize for tuba, and in addition, he also was awarded with the first price for chamber music.

He is a member of the Parisian Police-Orchestra and he frequently plays together with the Orchestre de Paris.
Out of Paris he makes music with the Orchestra of Bordeaux and the Jazzogène Big Band.

Who thinks of a tuba, usually associates with it ponderous and antiquated music, but as massive our instruments look like, as surprisingly gentle and saucy they may sound.

Especially in Swing and Jazz the deep parts of the brass with their variety in tones invite the musician to experiment with the instrument, explains Olivier Galmant, who also is a fan of Jazz music.

Because of this, we are not afraid of connecting classical music and Jazz in our program.

Tone, dynamics and passion are the only things that count!
