The four members of the MTQ met in 1992 during their studies at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique de Paris.
Their initial friendship was followed by a mutual passion for music and they decided to play together. That was easier said than done as the guys were playing 2 euphoniums of different makes, 1 saxhorn bass and 1 F-tuba. The beginning was also laborious because of the lack of original repertoire. But the fullness and richness of the quartet's tone was such that motivation overcame these difficulties. The first performance took place near the Conservatoire, for the inauguration of a new bar, in front of an audience mainly composed of all their brass classmates…!

t was in 1995 at the Frankfort music fare trade that they first encountered Miraphone. They were there just to try new instruments and they came back with an invitation to visit the firm's site. The visit was to be fruitful as it ended with Miraphone's total endorsement of the group. Collaboration began with elaborating and developing the firm's future instruments.For 15 years now, thanks to a mutual understanding and total confidence between the MTQ and Miraphone, they've been sent all over the world to represent and show the public the entire range of Miraphone's tubas.

Their main goal is to give another image of the big brass instruments. Without following any musical style in particular, they are striving to sensitize the public to various kind of music. The dynamic stage direction invites the audience to participate actively in the show and thus enter the world of the tuba.

They also play a large part in making the repertoire evolve by creating many pieces composed or arranged specially for them: MTQ on its own, MTQ as soloist with symphonic bands or symphonic orchestras.
They are currently all members of the Parisian Police Orchestra.

With 3 CDs and more than 300 concerts performed in 15 different countries ( Germany, Austria ,Canada ,Spain , United States, Finland, France, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Poland ,Tchek Republic, Slovakia ,Switzerland) The MTQ celebrates its 15 years of existence with (and they are very proud of this) the four same members. Very particularly strong moments like the 3 weeks tour in the States, the concert in solo with symphonic orchestra in Finland at ITEC 2001, the eleven days tour in Bavaria with 11 master class and 11 concerts! Concert with the Parisian Police Orchestra at the théatre du Chatelet in Paris , ITEC 2000 in Canada with many meetings with tuba players, concert accompanied by the World symphonic band ,  concert with the National Youth symphonic band in Schladming in Austria...
